Excursion Improvements?
Would there be a major improvement to move the spare to the underside like the Suburban?
Also, the circular air vents for the rear passengers close by themselves when there is high air velocity. Any help?

Yes it does! It drives me crazy! If it wasn't there the 3rd seat would then be wider. A good thing. BUT because it is there, we got a 44 gallon tank! There is a tire manufacturer (the name slips my mind right now) that I researched a few months back that now makes a puncture resistance tire in the size for the X. A set of those would be a nice option to carrying a spare around with us. My tires are new (they weren't available yet when I was shopping for tires)but I will probably look into it when replacements are needed. I also looked into a outside spare tire carrier. There is nothing on the aftermarket that is a "bolt on" fit. Or even anything that will go into the receiver. Looks like you'd have to have something fabricated.

I don't have that particular problem. Sorry...
Have you checked out the Bonarue II Spare Tire Carrier. It may be just what your looking for.

Now, does anyone know who makes custom spare tire covers?
I instead made a rooftop mount for my spare using the useless roof rack (this made it somewhat useful
), some of the existing spare tire holder components and some other stuff I found in the garage. I mount my spare up there when I travel long distances with the truck full of kids. It works well. I drove to SC & back with no problems at all.
