Suitable ground location?
This ground strap has been flapping around since I bought the truck, I'm guessing it bolts to where the tranny dipstick tube should go but that bolt was sheered off the first time I checked the fluid.
Needless to say there's about zero chance I'll ever be able to back that bolt out without either removing the head or pulling the engine off the mounts. Couldn't even fit my hand back there.
Are there any suitable locations to bolt a new cable which are also easy to access? Ideal wire gauge?
I'm thinking of just using a 4ga battery cable for a blazer that's been sitting in a package, just kinda lost on where given the whole plastic intake nonsense.
The ground in question is the now green strap laying on the valve cover which is connected to the firewall.
Of the four total bolts up top, looks like two were snapped below the surface so it might take a bit while in getting those out.
Virtually every repair I've had to do on this has involved finding broken fasteners, eight coil packs & only one had an intact bolt. The rest were conveniently pre-snapped pretty far into the brass inserts with damaged threads.
Same for the half missing engine oil dipstick tube, both the retention tab & bolt, m.i.a. Even the front marker lights😆 At least those can be turned out from the rear.
Sad state of affairs!
