Battery Ground

Over the years, I think the ground cable coming from the battery to the block has moved location before I bought the truck. Can anyone tell me the exact location the ground cable is supposed to go? This is the cable that comes off the negative side of the battery. The truck is a 91 F150 with a 5.0L engine.

Thanks,

My 90 F250 is a 5.8, but the cable attached to the front passenger side of the block. There is a stud there that holds a bracket for my tranny lines.

It will go to the block. I also have another cable going to one of the bolts that holds the starter on. You can NEVER have to many grounds!

I just ran my 4 gauge wire to the bracket holding the alternator, and used the Alternator mounting bolt to secure it. I routed it through the intake manifold, and it solved my grounding/charging problems.

It should go to the frame and then the block or transmission bolt. Some vehicles also have wire to the fender.

This covers all bases!
