Quick question- Bedside shape

quick question. Kind of a dumb one but I think if I get the answer I can clear my mind. Thank you in advance. I appreciate how helpful everyone is here.

My 85 had some pretty excessive filler on the bedsides. Like both sides had been dented in pretty severely. Slight amount of rust bubbling through around the wheel arch’s.

I removed all the filler and welded in new wheel arch’s. Now I’ve applied some filler but I’m a bit unsure of the contour of these panels and no truck to go look at right now and see. It’s not from top of bed to bottom I’m struggling with. It’s more the “length”

does the box side run straight from front to back or does it begin to taper inward toward the rear? When I put a long straight edge on either side it sure appears that it tapers, starting just behind the wheel arch or so. I only have a 4’ straight edge so I can only check so far.

Maybe it’s a subtle thing I never noticed.

or perhaps I have a lot of dinking around to do to get the Boxside to be flush to a straight edge the whole length of the box..

not going to be a show truck but I want it to look good.

Seems that right at the pinstripe or the chrome strip bump out it stays pretty straight till right at the corner. I haven't thrown a straight edge on mine yet but google some images and it looks straight.

These guys probably have an answer for you

I'm thinking the side are straight from front to back. Let me know if you need more or better pictures.

I did go out and measure the distance from the top, inside rail, on the bed, its 65" wide front and rear.

I slapped a 60 inch straight edge on mine. I'm seeing a slight flair out from a front corner to the front of the wheel well, about 34 inches. Then it's pretty straight from there aft.

Thanks for looking guys.

I’m not sure what happened to this box in the past. Reckon maybe some feller had a few too many road sodas and slid her sideways into a tree, on both sides… haha

I’m not gonna put the time in to make it perfect but I also don’t think it’ll be noticed by many if this is a little off from factory.
