stalling 1999 F250

I have a 1999 F250 PSD and it has stalled on me a few times...3 sitting still and once doing about 45 mph...haul horses alot and needless to say he doesnt stop or steer if he isn't running...and contrary to most comments I have seen I dont let my man drive! I drive my man and he's a red F250!

Camshaft position sensor (CMP). It's $80-100 from the International dealer, roughly double that from Ford. Easy 10 minute installation.

Is it nearly a given that the CMP will eventually go out? I have heard some of you mention to buy an extra one of these for the day that happens. Should I consider buying one before it even goes out? Like you all I don't like to waste money, but would like to avoid getting stranded and avoid having to buy from Ford when I am desperate for the part.

Just changed my CMP sensor out last week for stalling also. Use a 10mm box end wrench to break torque and access from under engine. Easy fix. Good luck.

replaced cmp

Mine went out on ramp on I-70 in Kansas City, Mo. Died 5 times before got to lot to park. Called Midway Ford, replace it total of $100. Didn't take long to fix.
