The 2020’s had more changes than the ‘23’s, and the ‘99’s are still lumped with the 2016’s if that tells ya anything.
Its a miracle we even got a new forum for the ‘17+ trucks
You have no idea what you are talking about.
As a previous owner of a '12, '17, '20 and now a 2023 there was a massive jump 2016 to 2017 and then a massive jump 2023+

There was a more massive jump from 07-08, and 10-11. 2020 saw whole new engines and transmissions and tweaked suspension.
Im just saying that precedent has been set, so don’t hold your breath.

2017 and 2020 is essentially the same truck with a minor refresh change. Both are the same chassis, body, dash, box, bumper etc.
2023 does not share a single body panel with any of them.
I don't have a horse in this race and don't really care either way if the 23's get their own forum. But I'll bet the 23 folks will all be in the 17-22 forum when they can't find something or figure something out.
So we’re basing them on looks now instead of hard parts?
Well, then the ‘23 looks close enough to the ‘17-‘22 to not warrant a new forum.
In retrospect if Ford still sells a truck like yours with the proven 6.2 and the smooth 6 speed, I would not hesitate to buy it over a 23, every single day of the week.
Does the '23 really have 100% new body panels? Does it have a new frame, new suspension, new powertrains?
Admittedly I haven't researched them, but I would think that if they had released a NEW diesel (not an update to the 15 year old one), a NEW platform, NEW cab....we'd have seen it all over the internet. The only new things I see are a 6.8L engine (which is just a tweaked 7.3) and yet another grille.
I'm reminded of the S197 5.0 Mustangs. 11-12 and 13-14 have a LOT of differences including grille, lights, interior, dash, body shape front and rear, and even an updated engine for '13. But those cars are always lumped together because it's the same PLATFORM. If you made a new forum every time a wire changed colors you'd have 1,000 forums.
100% new body panels, different cab, different electronics and features, different interior, rear frame reinforcements, same basic suspension design, big jump in towing and payload capabilities, and a new generation of the 6.7. Almost none of the parts in the current 6.7 match with the original 6.7 (12 years ago). It's like saying all the GM Duramax engines are the same.
It was argued hard for a new sub-forum, but the people that hadn't actually checked into any of the details thought it was the same with a facelift. Ford calls it a new generation. The F-150 gets a new sub-forum every time it gets a re-fresh, but the admins in the Superduty section are sticking with past mistakes of keeping trucks grouped together that have little in common with each other. No one will even give a list of what would be needed to be considered for a new sub-forum.

I thought the PSD had a redesign in 2015, then in 2020. The 2023 PSD is not a complete redesign of the 22 version as far as I have been told, I could be wrong though.
weird, there is no such thing as a 2019 7.3 gas with the 10R140 or 3rd gen PSD with the 10R140, But the 2023 has both.
Do you care about how a truck looks, or what the drivetrain and powerplants it uses?
any given year has different engine choices. But 100% the rest of the trucks are the same minus the grille/tailgate
if you wanna go down this route we now have an HO 6.7 and a 6.8 gas. An entirely new interior, new electronics and options etc. lots of differences once you get beneath the surface.
we could go on all day and of course theres differences
but I think there’s a lot more interchangeable parts between 17-22s while the 23s and beyond could use their own forum.
also if you have a real specific engine related question there are sections on her for the different engines already to have focused conversations.
who cares though, it won’t happen so it’s all just trivial
