I’m not sure how Ford does it but on the Hyundai we have, if you hold down the start button for 10 seconds it will override the brake switch and start, then you can use the shift lock override hole to get it into gear.
I’m guessing Ford probably has something similar incase the brake switch fails, not sure as I don’t have that option.
I heard from someone here that pressing the start button for 5-6 seconds would start the truck even if your foot was off the brake (making your switch useless). However, they wouldn’t be able to put it in gear without manually releasing the plunger in the column, which every criminal knows is there.
A hidden switch for the fuel pump or other vital relay would be better.
