Disc brake conversion help
The drivers front hub assembly was easily disassembled and cleaned…all good.
Then I start to unpack and mount the caliper bracket piece and only two of the three mounting bolts with associated spacers will go into place. The third bolt just won’t go into place with the required spacer between the bracket and hub assembly. Didn’t matter which bolt went in first, it always came down to the third bold/spacer not fitting.
Shot a couple videos and pics, sent them off to LMC, and was told to get in touch with the original company they obtained the parts from (http://www.classicperform.com), so I send them the same email with pics and vid’s.
They reply several days later telling me “you will need to trim your steering stop to allow the brackets to fit proper.” The attached pic is from them clipping a shot from on of my videos and marking with the clue line where I should grind down the steering stop.
Is this something other have had to do?
Will this cause other issues down the road when or if someone should turn the steering wheel lock to lock?
If so, should I just send this entire power front disc brake kit back and keep what’s worked the past 72 years?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. While waiting for some advice, I will continue with the plumbing of the new brake lines and hoses to each wheel. New fuel tank and all associated parts, headliner, window felts, final connections and wrapping of the Painless re-wire , and re install the new tungsten oiled oak bed with black powder coated bed rail and bolt pieces.
Sorry
