DCA4 coolant additive?
I just got an information sheet from my dealer mentioning that all diesel engines require the use of the heavy duty coolant additive known as DCA4. It prevents Cavitation Erosion which will cause tiny bubbles and pit the liner or block. At about 75K miles they see catastropic failures from lack of the proper level of DCA4 in the coolant. DCA4 is not needed until the coolant is 12K miles old. My question, is DCA4 mixed in from the factory and I only have to maintain its integrity (have no idea how to monitor it) or do I have to add some at 12K miles?
