Depends on what coolant you're putting back in.
You buy test strips according to the coolant you're using, then that determines the dca/sca that is required.
My 2000 psd (I think all late 99+ psd engines can use it ) has CAT coolant in it, which doesn't require any additive. Check into that if you want a lifetime non maintenance coolant. There's something about the seals though. I can't remember.
Not sure how detailed you want to go into this but moving to CAT ELC is always preferred --- requires the full blown flush however (unlike the minor flush the dealerships do)......if you go with the full blown procedure it's about 30 gallons of distilled water (for the various flush stages), almost 4 gallons of CAT.........
