Choke cable adapter

Would anyone have advice on an adapter to connect the choke cable to the carb ball link? I replaced the carb and the linkage is different. Do I need to manufacture my own? It doesn't look like I can swap the linkage. You should see the blank stare when I try to tell the young guys at the parts store what I need.

Quick Google search showed an eBay ad from “the carb shop” offering the correct choke lever with cable end for $10.99 and free shipping. Prolly less money and hassle then adapting something. I just typed Holley 94 choke lever.

It appears you have a flathead-6 226? I doubt the lever for a Holley 94 used on the V8's will fit, but maybe you could use the cable end from one to modify yours. I'll check to see if I have one.

It is a 226, I believe. I guess I should find some numbers to confirm but I believe it's the original and the spec sheets that I've found say 226. I could manufacture a link, I think, but I'd prefer to have something that doesn't make a person scratch their head and make comments about rednecks.

Can you post pics of both the old and new levers in their entirety? I don't know why you couldn't swap the old one onto the new carb.

I think your "original" carb must be off a much older truck, or another brand even, I don't recognize it. The choke lever on the new one is very similar to the ones used on Holley 94's, I think trying one of those is your best bet. At most you might have to splice the lower part onto the new carb's lever, should be pretty easy if you can weld.
Maybe someone on here will step up with a spare?

Part of your troubles is that your carb appears to be a car carb, not a truck carb, and they may have different linkage setups. It also explains why you haven't had a response to your air cleaner question as we're not familiar with the car air cleaner. Maybe researching 49-51 car choke linkage will help in your quest.

The original carb is an Autolite 1100. I should have mentioned that in the original post.
Thanks

Thanks. If I get it connected, am I apt to see a difference in performance if it's a car carb rather than truck?

You should be using a 7HT carburetor for your F5 with the 226, not an 8HA or Autolite 1100. Otherwise, as stated before in this and other threads, you will have to overcome/fabricate around the differences in linkages, air filter housings, fittings etc. all of which may not be trivial, especially since an Autolite 1100 was already shoved in there.

If you are going to stay with the carb you have, I have the part as shown on the right carb. I have the choke cable that attaches to the ball.

I would be interested in a swap.

OK I am going to see if I can get the truck to start and run with this carb first and then I'll decide what my next step is. Thanks

Unlikely you'd ever know the difference, if there is one. You've never driven both to know.
