Differential Setup
Is it a must?
I plan on taking it on rougher trails at times and in the snow during snowboarding season (Keep in mind it is a 2wheel drive so nothing wild). I fear that even with the LSD it may not give me the confidence even in these situations and end up stuck anyway.
My two paths of thought at the moment are either go with theLSD orpurchase one without a LSD and throw a Detroit locker in the rear. I've also read Detroit lockers aren't the best for snow/road.
Any setup advice is welcome, have done a lot of work on engines, suspension, & transmissions in the past so I'm not concerned with the work just pricing and effectiveness.
Thanks !
Rough snowy trails are not going to work, Detroit Locker or OEM LSD or stock open diff.
Your weight distribution and suspension limitations will unload the drive wheels to the point where you'll be stuck.
I would go with the OEM LSD and get some aggressive tires for your winter travels.
You'll have to feel your way as to how much that combo will take.
With a Detroit Locker or LSD, with both wheels spinning on ice you are going to get sideways very easily. The LSD is more forgiving while the Detroit locks up pretty rough by comparison.
