I have the CD8443 and I hope I do not have to find out. They do have a 1 year replacement warranty if stolen. (I have not read the whole info) They do have a super clean sound. The unit I have has 8 Volt pre outs which is more than most amps can be adjusted to. (7 Volts max on most amps I have used) Just set the gain to minium as to not to blow speakers or affect sound quality. They are a no frills radio and focus on performance. They achieve their goal on that and user friendly.
Thanks for the reply. I hope I don't have to find out about the ESN thing either. I just had my Alpine stolen, so I replaced it with the Eclipse CD3403, it sounds pretty good. Anyway, I was just asking about the ESN thing because its not really explained in the owners manual, I did fill out the paperwork at the place I bought it, so I should be covered.
if im not mistakened, there is not an actual tracking device on it, it just wont work if it is reinstalled in another vehicle. not sure but think thats what it is. also, i think there is a serial number on it that can be punched in to find the original purchaser.
The ESN works when you install your "key" CD. If power to your CD player is disconnected you have 5 attempts to install the right "key" CD. After 5 faulty attempts the CD player locks up and must be sent back to the factory to be reset. I seriously doubt the thief would send it in, but at least all they have in their hand is junk!
