Blue Digits?

No, not the ones on the dash - the ones on your hands and feet.

Has the rain started freezing yet?

As far as I can tell, for this location, there has been no freeze yet this year. Which is a shame, as frost kills all the creepy things in my yard, that bite, sting and cause havoc during the summer.

I loved it being in Bismarck last winter - that was cold, so cold that when the temperature got to 26º F I went to the store without a jacket - the sun was shining, and life was great.. This year I am back here in TN, where the bugs live, the rain falls and tornadoes wander around killing people.

Theo,

I hate to tell you this but . .

Tornados *might* kill ya. 26 degrees will *definitely* kill ya.

Besides, if my refrigerator got that cold I would have to get it fixed. Why on earth would anyone want to live in a broken refrigerator??

No, no, that temp is for keeping ice fresh - not humans alive

I used to work in Antarctica...... There is cold. I did a spell in Iceland too, that also is cold. For a short while they had me messing about in Northern Finland, which is colder still.. I went within 120 miles of the north pole once, that too was cold.

26 degrees really isn't all that cold, and with adequate clothing, or windless sunshine, it is not dangerous. But, for fuzzy lizards, who depend upon the sun for the ability to move, 26 degrees is far too cold...

I have decided that Fuzzy is a Salamander, who needs heat to function.

It makes me smile Theo, to realize I am higher on your scale than I figured.

. . well, higher off the ground anyway - at least I have legs!

Oh, speaking of cold. Theo back before I had brain cells to misfire and die on me I spent 6 months working the North Atlantic, well, actually the Irish Sea, for Comex. We were taking out old trunk lines (actually 48" steel pipes) that offshore oil rigs pipe the product onshore using. As we got inshore, the water was often slush that would start to freeze around you if you stopped moving. I called it "Tin Man Syndrome". Even though we were using hotwater suits, after a few hours in it you still suffer terrible snot frost on the wiskers and your fingers and feet were blue ~perpetually~.

I left there. When I landed in Ft. Liquerdale, FL it was 91 and the water temp was 89. I decided then and there - that's cold enough. For some reason ever since, I tend to chill easily

Dan, there are very few places on this earth that I have not been to. I was in one of the most travelled, and certainly one of the most active units in the military. We went everywhere, did most everything, and had more fun than you would ever think possible.

Theo, now retired, bored and useless.

Yep, it is cool... I just feel somewhat out of place. I grew up in the military, went through my 20s, 30s, and to my 40's in the military. Now I am in my 50's and not doing much.. That frustrates me from time to time, particularly when I see inexperienced kids being killed in Iraq. As in everything else in the world, the modern is not a good as the old ways. We tended not to get killed in war zones, because we knew what to do in all situations. Nowadays the troops I have talked to do not have the training to be aware of the dangers. I wonder how many of them don't see the circumstance that killed them.

I suppose the main problem is I do not see myself as the has been the military obviously see me as.

That is round about right on, Wolf.. I have started the book writing, but not yet stooped to collecting stamps. I have, however, completely abandoned annoying the staff.
