heres my story, i start the truck up at around 5am this morning temp about 40 degrees out. no problem. i head up the road to go to my hunting spot, pull into a hayfield slowly and my engine just dies!!! nothing, steering locked, but electrical system was still working (headlights). i was absolutely beside myself. i let the truck sit for a second and tried to start it up. sure enough it started right up no problem. to say the least im a little pissed and confussed. what do you guys think happend?? its bran freakin new!! you have got to be kidding me. plus ford needs to start selling real AT tires on their trucks, these general ameritracs are garbage, i get stuck in a field that is practicly level! not a happy camper so far.
ok, so my truck did it again. was backing into a driveway, and took my foot off the gas and.....blah....nothing. she just died once again. both times have been when i took my foot off the gas, in cold weather, going slow, and it started right back up. never had it checked the first time, fig it was just some freak thing. but i dont want the 3rd time charmer to be going 65 down the hwy. guess my baby is goin to the doctor, any advice besides what was said the first time? anyone else have this problem?? maybe a vapor lock or something in the fuel line??? i dont know im lost for words.
sounds like a chafed wiring harness. there is a TSB on it. seems the harness can rub on a bolt at the top rear of the valve cover[cannot remember which side] and short causing the stalling issue.
That sounds exactly like what my '01 F250 did. If I took my foot off the gas, it would die. Kept restarting and dying every time I took my foot off the gas until the engine warmed up enough (about 10 min). Dealer replaced the Idle Air Control valve under warranty.
