redneck-cowboy,I just did the duraspark II "upgrade" on my 85' F150 Exployer 4.9,np-435,2wd.Changed to 78 distributor and carb,35.00 for dist at a junkyard 90.00 for a carter YFA carb. I'm very impressed with Duraspark II.Cheap and easy to fix.Got all my questions answered on this forum (it's great!)Cured all my strange running problems. Hope this helps ,happy holidays,Mark.

I've also discovered that HEI dist. expensive isn't it?

Gain any power from the duraspark II upgrade? Other then the headache of the electronic junk.

Oh yeah, no doubt, but he has the money, and it runs great.

I'd rather spend it on head work and a cam, then intake, headers, and exhaust.

I'll second RAZMATAZZ, I swapped a duraspark II into my 85 f150 and it made a world of difference. I did gain power (timing wasn't advancing before), and it runs a lot smoother. Got the wiring harness, module, coil, and distributor for like $15 at a junkyard, and bought a reman carb at parts store for like $80. I probably would've paid double for everything.

I'd like to find one of these junkyards. There is a small one a few miles from me, but all there is, is V-8's and tractors.
