Look at the nifty website my daughter learned about in school today.
http://www.themeatrix.com/

I asked her what she thought about it, her reply "I think some of the dumber kids really fell for it."

Are they teaching that? There was a ton of misinformation in that.

Not teaching it per say, but more along the lines of, "Look at this fun website", then leave it for the students to "oh and ah" over.

I've already had 1 run in with this quack (4th grade teacher). The first week of school she passed out a little questionnaire for the kids to fill out, one of the questions was "Are the any guns in the house?". My daughter answered with "Yes, lots of them" Then the next question was "If so, do you feel safe with a gun in the house?" She misread the intent of this question and replied "No, if someone breaks in, I think Heidi (St Bernard) would eat them before we had to shoot them". After the teacher got the answers back, she commented to the class that those that have guns around must have "Real Nut Cases" for parents.

After hearing this, then next day I spent about 30 minutes in conference with the principle, in fact, I had made it a point to not leave until he showed signs of serious agitation.

Next time you see the teacher; ask her for the name of her malpractice insurance provider.

. . . or better yet, ask the Principal at a PTA meeting.

Alan, I would've been orbital over that type of stuff. There was a time they couldn't ask the class what religion the students were. But it must be ok to ask if there are any guns in the house? None of her damn business. Teach the kids to read and write and let them determine which political direction they want to go when they get older.

Unreal.

It's gotten to the point that that was not only acceptable, but likely encouraged. I'm guessing that you (and your kids) now have a bullseye on you with the teachers and officials at that school.

I'd have come unwired too.

It's a violation of rights, unethical, and that teacher should be fired, effective immediately IMHO.

Don't hold your breath.
