2005-2007 overall differences?

Looking for a SRW, manual shift 4wd, 6.0 with an auto for a project. I need to keep it in the 05-07 year range so i don't have to deal with emissions. I've been digging around for info but figured I'd just ask since I'm not finding much. Not sure if it's cause there aren't any big differences, or I'm not searching the right stuff. Not worried about the engine side of things, but were there any drive train fixes or improvements done by 2007 that would make holding out for a later model worth it? I know axles/trans/transfer case/brakes/etc. can get upgrades or have bugs fixed multiple times in the first couple years of a model change. I'm in no rush to buy, so waiting for a later year truck isn't an issue if it'd be worth it.

There weren't a TON of changes as far as the drivetrain goes from '03-07. The '03 and early '04 had a different EGR runner, but otherwise I'm not aware of any major changes.

The only emissions on an '08 to '10 was the particulate filter, which can easily be deleted. However, the 6.4 NEEDS to be bulletproofed to be a solid engine.

EDIT: There was one other change I can think of during the run of the 6.0 - they swapped the front springs from leafs to coils. I want to say that was a late '04, maybe '05MY change.

Aside from 6.0L engine changes, there was little difference in the 05-07 trucks. Just trim and some paint colors.

Just an FYI, in PA an inspection mechanic has to make sure emissions equipment is there. Granted, they can’t check if the EGR is working, but they do look for the cat. Again, it doesn’t necessarily have to work, but it’s gotta be there.

Ok good to know. Like I said, I'm not to worried about the engine, this is gonna be a Cummins swap project. Pre-'08 trucks don't get plugged in here, as long as here's no CEL and you pass the snap opacity test you're good. I've heard rumors they're gonna start snapping pictures of the undercarriage to check for missing cats./DPFs and structural damage. If they start enforcing having cats., I guess I'll just put a cat. on it.
