If you missed my intro thread in the Noob section here's a quick intro - new to the forum, have owned fords off and on for 24 years (along with jeeps). I'm hoping to start a project next spring and I'm researching platforms. Money will be a bit of an issue but I'm in no rush.
Here's my question - I read the pinned threads and did some searching but maybe I'm not using the right terms. I'm looking for info and/or resources that will tell me all the differences in the F-series models offered in Dentside. Not so much trim packages cause I don't care too much about that, but axles, engines, suspension, etc. F100 vs F150 vs F250 differences and things like that. Does anyone know where I can find this info? I want to have an idea of what I want to shop for based on my needs/wants for this build.
Axles and suspension are the main differences between the models mechanically. major changes in V8's in 1977 but not model specific. you either want a half or 3/4 ton is about what that amounts to. trim packages and options are where the research pays off.
I hadn't thought about looking for brochures, modern brochures usually only talk about the bells and whistles not so much which model axles are underneath or what transfer case, etc etc. I'll check that out for sure.
I have several and they don't discuss the specifics but they give weight ratings and drive train options so you can connect the dots. 4wd models had more changes than the 2wd models did.
No single source info that will provide everything you are looking for. At least that I am aware of. There is some info here that might help. https://www.fordification.net/tech/p...mbers.htm#1977
This is a very helpful forum. Once you start to narrow down what you want, just post your specific questions here for answers and opinions.
Keep in mind there is some misinformation out there on the internet as well so be careful.
As popular as these trucks are getting, if someone was able to compile data and publish a comprehensive guide on them it would probably sell pretty well
I just started a Google sheet to compile what data I can extrapolate from the brochures, if it's not too messy and other people can interpret it I'll share it (no charge). We'll see how ambitious I am
