I have a question for you other LB owners. The LB gas tank is a 38 gallon capacity. I have run my tank down a few times until the fuel light comes to see how far I can really get on a tank. When I fill it up at the same station with the same pump at the same speed the most I can get into it is about 26 maybe 27 gallons. I do realize that I won't be able to get 38 into it but almost 10 gallons difference puzzles me.
I have heard many diesel owners dropping their tanks and modding the filler neck I think to get the most out of the tank but I don't think the 10 gallon difference is what I am seeing.
Most fuel tanks have a reserve in it. Allso the sensor in the tank may be set to high. You could run it out of gas! put a 5 gallon can in the back, that way you will know how many miles you can go.
mine has a 38 gallon tank. I ran mine on empty with the light on for 45 miles before i got to a gas station. i was nervous the last 10 miles not really knowing how much more i had left.
But all ended well at the Arco and $70 later i was on my way back home...
I've got a LB and a SB the LB will take around 34 gallons for me when the light comes on, my question here is, will a LB tank fit in a SB truck?? yeah yeah I know I'm lazy, just wondering if anybody has done the leg work for me....
hehehe, I run mine down to the bottom almost everytime. I've gone as far as 80 miles with the light on but I wouldnt try any further than that. I've never gotten more than 36 gallons into it at a fill up.

I have the same question, towing with the 29 is like taking a kid on the trip and feeding him water. Not to long and your stopping. I looked into a transfer flow but $$$. If it was a swap with the long bed it could save some $$.
Thanks for the replies. I knew that I had the reserve I was just bothered that even when down into the empty light all I could get in was the 26,27 max.
Hang 10
I played for the Air Force when I was in, great sport. I will do this mod when I put my back up lights on. Spending the day under the truck. The light thread is going strong with lots of good input from others who have done it.
