I’m in search of a replacement maroon dash pad for my 79 ford but haven’t found one yet that’s in stock. Bronco graveyard has the door panels in maroon but nobody seems to even offer the same color for a dash pad which is odd to me but must not be high demand. Any sources for a new one aside from dying one? Thanks
X2 on SEM products! In 2015 I bought a new Corbin Saddle for our Goldwing trike, trike was red, but the saddle was "Magenta". The owner had ordered it custom, but his wife said it hurt her hip so he only used it once. I got it "right", so I was willing to try a dye. Saddle was a combination of leather and vinyl. I used SEM "Classic Coat" to do it in black, after using SEM wash and SEM primer. It still looks great today. It's a seat that sees use.
If you still have one but it's in rough shape, talk to an auto interior/upholstery shop about recovering it with some matching colored material. Or try doing it yourself, just need some material and some contact cement, maybe some spray foam if your current pad has holes in it. I've even seen people use spray can bed liner to cover a broken dash, then paint it.
I just restored a dash by filling all the cracks with dash board patch (it’s a vinyl filler) and then coating the whole dash with rattle can bedliner… the texture is surprisingly similar to the factory texture. I then painted it with vinyl paint and it came out way better than I expected.
