My guess is it wasn't a mistake...they had an opportunity to sell the truck to a "Preferred Customer"...probably at a higher price. When you gave them $500 and then waited a year...you definitely should have been a "Preferred Customer." That type of thing has been happening for decades. I would get my $$$$ back...with interest...and head elsewhere.

Yup. They got a better offer. The only mistake was the original customer noticed.

that "preferred customer" phrasing is a hoot. They are not even trying to hide what happened like blaming it on a clerical error or confusion or anything like that, just "another customer whom we valued more".

LOL.

Nope, a regular customer that paid above list.

The quick dollar now... should lead to closed doors down the road a bit when more customers discover how they treat 'regular' customers who were denied their order.

Any that follow the quick dollar path should be exposed, by name. Place of business, and perhaps the names of the sales person & manager should be stated clearly and publicly.
IMO

I was at my dealer on Monday for maintenance and they had two Mavs on the lot. The one in front of the store was an XLT AWD 2.0L with an MSRP of $32xxx and a $5000 market adjustment bring it to $37xxx. For that, they can sell it out from under me and I wouldn't care.

Ford is making the Hyundai look great and the Toyota worth waiting for.
