You may be right, can't find the NOS ones yet. It's funny though, as I was looking through my used stuff, I found one of each with the ***** still attached like I described.
I'm going back to the shop tomorrow. I am guessing they mount the same......

JP, You were right, I pulled on the splined piece and it came off and I put the new original know on the switch. I felt as small as the piece itself but it looked original until you mentioned what u did.

If it makes you feel better, I ruined a perfectly good reproduction **** trying to drill it out to make it fit that splined piece. It took me a while until I figured out what it really was.
