Had 2500 miles on a 2023 with the HO 6.7 Diesel when the engine started making some clanging noise. 10 seconds later the low oil pressure warning flashed and the truck shut down. Lost power steering and breaking. Got off the road luckily without any major difficulty. Popped the hood to look for anything loose or leaking, everything looked fine and there was no fluid anywhere, oil level was fine as well. Tried restarting but the truck really struggled to turn over. Called Ford road side assistance which is a complete joke. After an hour on the phone with them, I called a local tow truck and they were there in 15 minutes for half the cost. Once the dealer checked out the truck, they said one of the cylinders was all chewed up and there were metal shavings in the oil filter. Engine is shot and I need a new one. There are no complete engines available so no the dealer is trying to piece together one to build. There is no way I want a dealer rebuilt engine in my brand new $90K truck. Also, apparently the complete engines are rebuilds as well.

Ask them to put you in a new one. Did they give a timeframe to fix it?

It will be months and months to fix the truck. I started the buyback process but who knows how that will go. I already ordered a 2024 so ideally Ford just swaps them out but I still need a truck until the new one is built.

You had 2500 miles on a 2023 and you have a 2024 Limited already on order? A good dealer would make sure you are happy.
6.7L have a TBD date and at the best you are getting a remanufactured engine and not new. A covered rental is what id be pushing for or a loaner off the lot (if they even have any) until your 2024 comes in. Chances are you'll get the 2024 before a remanufactured 6.7L

I don't understand on the tow truck you called being 1/2 the cost, how could it be half of zero???
Ford towing to nearest dealer would have been no cost.
I'm very sorry to hear of your misfortune. There has been a lot of heat on this forum about gas failures and diesel failures
it doesn't matter what each of us have, it stinks to have issues with a new truck.

The closest dealer didn’t have a diesel mechanic, the second closest dealer’s diesel mechanic was out all week. I had to pay $815 through Ford before they would contact a tow truck to tow me to the closest deal that could work on my truck. After one hour and twenty minutes on phone calls with Ford’s roadside assistance, I called a local guy to tow me. When I called Ford back to cancel their assistance, they asked me why I wanted to cancel, what a joke.

Why buy another Ford if they are forced to buy this one back under a lemon law?

My bet is a reman engine too, if OP is lucky to get one in the next 6 months.

you don't really have a choice at this point, the newer 6.7 Cummins are having a TON of problems too, and most PSD buyers will not consider GMs due to the IFS.
It's an HO, chances of there are no rebuilds yet. There could be some minor differences in the block and heads between them to support the water cooling and higher turbo output.
OTOH, if it does use the same block and heads, then retrofits are just around the corner.
Since the engine went grindy kapluey, I hope they would also replace the turbo since it could have metal in it too.

The Duramax engines seem to be the most problem free.
