What tire size???
My truck currently has 20" Fuel Assault wheels with 305/55R20 Toyo tires.
Getting new tires and wheels because the tires are ready and I hate 20's.
Wheels will probably be 18in Fuel Vectors or Icon Rebound HD. The tires will be BFG All Terrain's for sure, but I'm not sure what size. Need help deciding.
Do I go with the factory size 275/70R18 so I can utilize the spare or do I step up to a 295/70R18 and lose what little fuel economy I have and probably have to trim the inner fenders a bit (current setup rubs at full lock, these are bigger). I could probably still use the spare in extreme emergencies. The 295's are also $100 more.
The choice seems obvious, but damn, the bigger tires sure would look cooler...
Does anybody run the 295's? What kind of mileage are you getting? Did you have to trim or level/lift to fit? Pics?
Also, opinions on the Icons vs. the Fuel wheels. I had the same Fuels on my 150 and liked them well enough.
p.s. don't tell my wife about this conversation...
Why don't you sit down in front of one of those tire size calculators and plug in some options.
If you're set on 18's, I'd put a front leveling kit on, and run some like 315/60/18's. Those are also the same rolling diameter as stock, so no concerns about spare (but honestly, how often do you really roll on the spare?)
The 2757018 is an excellent choice as you can find one anywhere being it is a factory option on Ford and Dodge for years. It is also a great performing tire in most conditions, and every major brand has an offering to choose from. I bought the k02 as soon as they were released. I am not a repeat customer. They can really change the look of a vehicle, but they are Nothing like the original KO! My new Jeep Rubicon came with KO2's, and they've done well on that for 37000 miles. I use treadwright now. They are remolded (USA) and I have put the test to them, I ain't a city driver and i'm doing something like 30k each year now. I could try to sway you to a hankook ATM since you didn't do well in the toyo, and save you money. I used to really love the coopers, but since they changed the design around 2016ish (cant remember when that rolled because it took two years to deploy all sizes) I didn't get to see them ran long-term personally. If their cheaper than the hankook is, that would be my choice. Cooper/Hankook ran neck-n-neck in my book. As far as balancing, every once in a while you do get a heavy spot. If that happens and you're working with a good dealer they can actually warranty that tire back before they even mount it to your truck. It is called Out Of Round Condition. Not typically found in A/T's, moreso M/T.
295's are a 'specialty size'. If you travel, you're asking for trouble. If that's what you choose, buy six of them or keep one of your old 20" w/t combo's on hand. I don't think you'll have a fun time loading a 295 into your spare rack. This size also costs more, just because. Not as many of the 'major' names build in this size, either so you are stuck with 'magazine ad' brands. They usually take a pound of sticky weights, on a good day. You'll have to invest 1000 bucks into hub balancing rings (one-time purchase, though.
) I think i might miss working in this field
