Can someone ID this engine?

Found in the wood in AK. I thought the distributor might help date it. Thanks.

Ford G series 226 cu in. 1942-1947. The dates are me guessing. It was followed by the H 226 six in '48-52'. Funny, that doesn't look too bad for out in the woods. Dump some atf/acetone down the plug holes and get a 12 v battery.....

Thanks. I have the H 226in my 48, I knew this was older. I liked the early carb that has Ford on it.
I’ll let her lie in peace.

Strictly for clarity to the thread, the G series 6 cylinder engine was introduced for the 1941 model year and used through 47 in trucks and 48 in cars. The H series replaced it with the introduction of new models in 48 trucks and 49 cars. It was used through 51 until the new OHV 6 was released in 52.

Parts are difficult to find for the G engines. Many of the parts still on that engine are sought after by guys still running them. I made an attempt to rebuild one about a dozen years ago and learned this the hard way.

In the last photo it looks like the engine might be coupled to a logging winch. Maybe even a Skagit Yarder built in Sedro-Wooley Wa.

It is definitely hooked up to a logging winch. Don’t know who built it, wish I had looked closer.
