just had the transmission rebuilt with new torque converter
the tranny shifts in erratic way
I have to lift my foot on gas pedal for it to shift in 2nd gear otherwise it will stay in first gear
sometimes in od ,if I accelerate it will downshift in 2nd gear even at 60 mph
How many miles have you driven it? They DO act stupid when you reconnect power to them, 'Erratic' I think is how Ford puts it, they say you'll need about 10 miles before its gets itself sorted out.

You're describing adaptive shifts. The 1996 that we are discussing here didn't have adaptive shifts, that started several years later.
changed the electronic shift control , nothing changed ,wont shift unless I lift my foot off the gas pedal , or either have to shift manually
even worse !
Came back home , put it in reverse to back up in my parking space , engine stalls , neutral, restart , reverse stalls 4 times, parked it forward for now
Îm desperate 🥺😩
Did a complete check on my electronic shift solenoïd control.
pass all the tests ( resistance , solenoïd operation etc….) so ,ill put mine back in there ( found a complete procedure on youtube )
could it be a valve body malfunction ( cant see what else could be wrong ) tried to find a valve body tests instructions , dint find any
I’m fed up of this
thanks
