Made a stupid move today working on my 76 F-150 w/ factory AC. Was trying to fix a vacuum leak on the back of the heater selector and when removing the unit I hit the heater swith leads and blew a wire or something out - sparks and smoke. Here's what I know:
1. Everything works except the wipers and the blower
2. Power is getting to the #3 fuse
3. No power to the blower switch
4. When I jump a wire from the #3 fuse to the power lead on the blower swith, the blower works on all speeds
Seems like a toasted wire from the #3 fuse to the blower swith or after doing some reading, maybe the relay under the passenger dash. Was going to run a new wire, but started thinking about why the wipers no longer work. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated!
With the help of the wiring diagram, the issue traced back to the heater blower relay under the passenger dashboard. $30 later, back in business! Wiper issue seems unrelated and I ordered a new switch based on some quick testing. Thanks all!
