I've got a 2000 F250 short bed, extra cab 4x4 with 200k miles on it. About 10 years ago I installed some shackles to the front leaf springs to lift/level the front end. I didn't do much towing back then, so don't recall how the ride was without the shackles. The truck looks great, but I have some bouncing and bucking on rough roads. The bouncing/bucking is much worse when I have my 1800 lb camper on the truck, or when I'm towing my 10,000 lb 5th wheel. The wife is complaining about the ride, especially because the trips we take are often on a rough highway. Last summer I installed Biltstein 5100 shocks front and rear. It helped a little, but not much.
Do the shackles contribute to the rough ride? Would a 2" mini spring pack give a better ride?
I also have issues with the truck wandering- it takes pretty constant attention to keep it straight down the road. I've had it aligned and it didn't make much difference.
