Got home from my latest trip earlier today, no issues at all with SYNC or my phone connection.
Went out just a short while ago to run an errand, crank truck up and the screen wakes up, but it is on the music screen, not the nav screen that it was on when I shut it off earlier. So, then it says it is trying to connect to media device, little circle going round and round, finally it gives up, unable to connect to media device.
WTF???
Click over onto the phone screen, my phone is on the list, so I click on it to connect, same deal, little circle going round and round, but it never quits, never says unable to connect.
Screw it, I need to go do my errand.
I got back home and start messing with it again, restart my phone, doesn't help, I reset SYNC, doesn't help.
Finally, I went into the settings and click to add a new phone, and started pairing my phone again, then the Ford Pass app comes on on my phone, click here to pair phone, so I did, went through the steps, got phone connected again.
Check notifications on Ford Pass, and then I find out that SYNC 4 had been updated to include amazon alexa, big whoop, who the hell cares about alexa, I don't even have it in my house, and includes a free trial of some garbage app to go along with it.
So, turns out this update was the cause of the lost phone connection and having to re-pair my phone, all with no advance warning, boy was I pissed!

Since the update, now every time I start the truck, the screen goes to the media screen and takes a while for the phone to connect, way longer than before.
Used to just start up on the last screen it was on, and the phone would connect in just a few seconds.

 

Yes very simple.
Disconnect the modem that is located behind the felt on the back wall behind the passenger seat. you won't lose anything else except that ridiculous Ford Pass app functionality.
