Help!!! Computor Geeks needed

Did some cleaning up on some spyware programs that were detected and I might have gotten a little carried away.

Now I can't use any of the highlighted or embedded links on posts or emails (like notification of replys from this post)

If I try to click on one; my computor freezes up for a minute or two unless I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Anybody got any ideas how I get things back to normal?

run a virus scan first...you may have a virus. If that doesn't help then run scandisk to see if a file may be missing or corrupted.

always try this first

I seriously doubt that you did that by cleaning up spyware.

I assume you backed everything up before deleting it in case that happened! So, just reinstall all the software and then delete them one by one to which one is the program you need, after backing them up of course.

Get Norton Systemworks and use the windows repair utilities. I know some people have a problem with their internet filter software but they still make great utilities. I have been buying their products for 15 years.

I've got XP and used system restore. Seems to be good so far. I went back 2 weeks and I'm slowly making changes systematically so I'll know which process is causing me grief.
