Pulled the motor today and have been doing some research. There are lots of options for swapping at 460 into a truck that had a 351 or 302, but not finding any “ bolt in options” to go from a 360 to a 460. Does anyone know of any that would work or am I going to have to cut out the old truck side mounts and replaced them with 351 mounts? Don’t mind the mess, truck was outside since 07 before I got it lol
Those "side mounts" as you called them are bolted in. They are a PITA to remove. I know this because I removed a pair from my '77 sCab parts truck with a 460/C6 that I will be using in an upcoming project ('76 F-100 that had a 360) where I also removed its 360 mounts. The 460 units are definitely different from the 360 units. Not sure about 351/400 mounts. Perhaps another FTE member has direct experience comparing the 460 to 351/400 mounts.
Sorry it’s been a while since I have updated you all. Got busy with work and then took a while to source some parts but working on it again now. got the motor perchs out of a 79 302 truck and I am going to bolt those into my truck, then ordered the transit dapt mounts for swapping a 460 into a 302 truck now just need to bolt everything in and start worrying about drive shafts and all other BS.
Well, it’s in there everything bolted up pretty well as far as the motor mounts go but the motor came out of a 76 Lincoln town car so I think the exhaust and the oil pan are going to have to change but the test fit went well otherwise.

dose anyone know where I could get a different oil pan, the one on the motor is front sump and I’m needing a rear sump to clear the cross member.
Ford Performance offers a rear sump oil pan and pick-up. I believe that it was originally intended to facilitate swapping a 385 series engine (429, 460 etc.) into a fox body Mustang. See: https://www.fordracingbyspeedshopdir...-6675-a460.htm
There are many other vendors with similar offerings.
I bought used off of ebay, be sure to get the oil pump pick up tube with it and you will probably need to buy the matching oil pump. I believe you can use a manifold from a van also, never tried.
I'm no expert and recommend you do as you please but you have lots of options. I have a 76 F150 with a 360 and a side of 4 spd. The thing I regret the most is don't chase original unless the engine needs little work or you're willing to put whatever it takes. If I were to do it all over again I would've put a 351W in. From a performance standpoint the FE aka your 360 is expensive and hard to make a performance motor out of. I wanted too but it's just crazy expensive for the parts. FE is a great series and if you keep up with maintenance the thing will run forever. Naturally these engines are pure work horses and what always amazes me is the low end torque. Mine was VERY weak and the compression was low (I should know the truck would roll in any gear on any incline) and the thing would still break em loose and pull you back in your seat. If you're looking for a performance engine I recommend a Windsor out of all of them. 460 might be a little much for your taste. They're great... except the gas milage. 300 I6 will run FOREVER and I mean I've seen these things run for 300k miles and still keep chugging along. I once seen a guy on YouTube run one that was dying at rev limiter for 30 minutes before it died and still somehow cranked after that. I think the guy found half the rods were broke in half and 2 pistons were cracked. Don't have a lot of experience with the Cleveland and Modified but I hear they're good engines too. I'll tell you what you chose the right generation of Ford trucks. Good luck on your journey!

I drove a 351 W home with the crankshaft broken at the center bearing once, sounded like a sledge hammer on corrugated siding. IO knew it was a goner, the further it went the less we had to tow.

Man that is crazy. I'm telling you these trucks just don't die. Whether they're on their last legs or not they just keep chugging along. Guarantee you couldn't do that in a new truck.
I think I found a pan that should work but dose anyone known if it will for sure clear my crossmember? I think it will but hate to spend the money and it not work. Summit Oil Pan I Found
Ok, once again its been a while since i have updated you all i have made some progress, bust have been left with more questions lol, the oil pan i mentioned in an earlier post did indeed work, though i did have swap my oil pump as the new pan is rear sump, (ill have pictures at the bottom of post The motor I'm using also had a smog pump, dose anyone know how i can delete that, can i just cap it? i also just used the factory trans mount from the Lincoln, its not elegant but it should work.
