Block casting number

D2 is 1972. That is the revision year for the block, not the actual production date which could be years later.
There should be a date code on you block right next to that casting code. See the pics here and check out the thread for more:

What do you want to know? These didn't get many upgrades or at least nothing dramatic. The later ones did away with the fuel pump mount as the EFI motors used electric pumps. Not sure if the clutch linkage attachment point was an issue as that changed to hydraulic in about '84.
