1 Wire Alternator
Members.
When I bought my truck the previous owner handed me a brand new 1 wire alternator.
scared to death of it I put it on the shelf and haven’t touched it. I’ve been doing some research and here’s where I’m at in regards to doing this.
I am lead to believe that I unbolt the existing alternator, wiring still attached and unplug it from the harness, wiring still attached to the alternator. I then unplug the voltage regulator and remove it. I then run a cable from the alternator to either the positive side of the battery or the selonoid. Lastly I run a ground from the alternator to a good ground on the engine or frame.
is that all it is?
Issue #2 I have a double pulley alternator now, will that double fit the new alternator or will it be two big?
Can I run just 1 fan belt and install the 1 pulley alternator?
