KEN04, NOT sure if you were getting the correct info in that club wagon. dURING THIS TRIP of 600 miles there were a few times were i needed it, and to cut of at 98! no matter how crazy it might seem to you personally, i would of liked to had the extra 10-15 mph, so i 'll go now so you can get back in the Van.
Erich, so far with like almost 1,300 miles on the truck I am only getting 8.3 to 9.9 mpg, now this is a DRW, F-350 4x4, V-10, 6-speed, 4:30 LS, with a fiberglass cap, and gotta have like 500 lbs of tools in it also. Gotta weigh about 8,000 lbs now with the Fisher MM plow frame on the truck, Unfortunately, I have many large hills where I live, both ways,,lol that is not helping, and if I can only keep my foot out of it, I think that wont hurt,,LOL.
Mark,
Sounds fine and thanks for the info, I wasn't expecting much with the mileage, can't wait, ordering my F-250 4X4 4.3gears Crew Cab in the spring and was kindof tossed about the gears. As you know it is only $50 more for the 4.3's, so I am going to get them. Thanks again...Erich

It didn't sound crazy to me at all, if you needed an extra 10-15 mph it's OK with me bro. I was recounting my thoughts, not flaming yours. If you need to go even 150, it's OK with me. I said that I wouldn't want to be in MY van at over 100 mph, but you are welcome to do whatever you feel is important to you amigo, go for it.
imagine pirrelli's / high speed kind..............3.2 gears.....2wd...........chipped.........V10....... .150 mph is possible............if the runway is long enough/ with a tail wind and going downhill........ok different thought 1968 ford falcon V10.......without any turns........

I agree completely. Speed doesn't kill, but exceeding your skill level (actual, not perceived) or the design limitations of the equipment you are operating does. Or maybe that just puts the operator in the "stupid" category.
Look here for a great example of someone who perceived his driving skill to be better than it actually is.

I agree, sometimes you just have to think for yourself, and not let the stupid people annoy you.
My only question is why 90 in only 4th? I don't get up to 90 very often, when I do I usually shift into OD around 70 and it still takes off very well. At 65 MPH in 4th I'm running at the top of the torque so when I shift into OD I'm not loosing much power. It also purrs along at 3000 rpm at 90 MPH quite well I've never went faster than that though because the mustang was still gaining on me so I backed off.
