90 Mph

I took my girlfriend shopping last sunday, We jumped in the F-350, it was her first ride in it,,,, Well ya know I just had to get on the highway for a couple exits,,as I was merging (light traffic), I decided to stomp the peddle,,yee, haaa, 75 in 3rd, 90 in 4th, and still pulling like a bear, then I backed off and dropped in to OD, she looks at me and say's ,,,," No wonder your only getting 8 mpg",, , this with like 740 miles on the truck, cant wait to do the exhaust mods,, and the accufab,,maybe the Mac intake,,I really like this combo,V-10, 6-speed, 4:30 LS, fun to drive,,you can putt around slow, or stomp-it and go !

Later,,,,,,,,,,,Mark

10-burnin, 6-turnin, sometimes 4 smokin !

Man that sounds like the exact truck I am ordering this summer, just a 250 instead, but the V-10 and six speed. They didn't have any V-10s on the lot yesterday so I drove the deisel, but know all along I will be ordering the V-10. So 90 in 4th with 4.30 gearing. I was concerned about not having enough top end when I ordered the 4.3's, but I guess that won't be the case...Erich

The V-10's kick it, I have had it to 50 mph in 2nd, then grab 3rd, but I dont do this alot, I just like to hear it growl,,From in the cab it sounds good, not sure what the exhaust sounds like on the outside, when my foot is in it alittle bit, But when the truck is at idle, it sounds good when ya walk around it.

Maybe it's gears, I have 3:73s. If I am running hard, I am just over 60 in 2nd, almost 85 in 3rd, and my limiter is kicking in, in 4th at about 3500 RPM, or around 95 MPH. I have never pegged the tach on the truck. I usually shift at *about* 4700.

hang 10, yes I bet with the 3:73 you can get 60 out of 2nd, I just have'nt pushed it that hard yet, and probobly wont, But man these V-10s sure are fun to drive, especially with the 6-speed !

Hard but not overly so, I don't think. Like I said, I have never run the tach to "redline" whatever that is. I am assuming redline is the end of the tach. I have hit the speed limit but never have hit the rev limiter. I do agree, it is fun to drive.

I've heard there was a speed limiter, but I tell ya, almost 3 tons going over a hundred is an eerie feeling, and it still wasn't slowing down. Heck with 3.73 gears it was barely breathing, but I started thinking about tires, and speed rating, and have you ever seen that movie of a slow rated tire when it's pushed to well over it's rated speed ? It gets all wobbly and like it's going to come off the rim (which it eventually does) so I'm thinking about thins as I'm trying to find the speed limiter. I tell ya, I don't know that I can find out. My speedo goes to like 95, and then I'm guess-timating at 105. It's not that the vehicle itself is scary, cause it's really not too bad, it's just alot of air being pushed and it's corresponding 'air rushing by at a high volume' sound. I wonder how many other guys have been at 100+ mph in the church van ? Not many I'd wager, so it's tires that keep me from really finding out 'what it will really do', that and the speedometer.

I was mistaken, my speedo reads all the way to 100 mph, with very little room past that. Not that I've ever pushed it past about 104 or 105, like I said, I keep having this vision of my tires coming apart and my van becoming perfectly round through rolling over 22 times because a tire blows out.

132 mph eh ? You are a far braver man than me my friend, far, far braver. As they say on the CB channels the truckers talk on; "Keep the shiny side up".

On the way home from Thanksgiving, I got on the Highway and got on it alittle, to get ahead of the traffic, I had it up to 95 mph in 4th this time, still pulling like a bear untill the speed limiter kicked in ! Thats fast enough for me ! LOL

Question

I not sure about all that has been said. I too have just returned from a 600 mile trip to Virginia, Truck02 V104X4,CC ran very well. 13.2 mpg is what the overhead read, I also had a new tank installed about 2 months ago. 46 gallon Transfer flow mid -ship replacement, ANYway as metioned 96 98 speed limiter kick's in. Now i know this is a very dangersous and sensitve area, but when doing lets say 85 88 and then you need to pass , someone it does not leave you w/ a lot of choices, i am just stating for the record that i had accura's and toyota's going as fast or a hair faster than i could go?

Haha, yea my wife doesn't fall for this one either, but I still try it on her once in a while. "but honey, I had NO choice, it was unsafe NOT to pass that guy. You wouldn't want me to have to stay behind a driver that is dangerous would you ? Heck no, me either, that's why I HAD to get around him. Shoot, it's not my fault he sped up to 85 mph, and once I committed to pass, well, I felt it would be unsafe not to complete the passing manuver, very unsafe, really".
