The rear bed camera in my 2020 F-450 went dark last August. The dealer says that is it the same issue as the tailgate camera recall. However, there are no parts available to fix it. I really miss that camera when hitching up our 5th wheel. Does anyone know when there will be parts available or have any alternate ideas?
I have thought about putting an extra trailer rear camera in the bed to plug in when hitching.
The recall issue on the reverse camera is that it gets foggy, not dark. It sounds like you're having a different problem. My bed camera has got dark on a couple occasions ,but it went back to normal pretty quickly. Not sure if it's a connection concern or what.
If you can locate the part# for the bed camera, and want to come out pocket, you might be able to find one. For my truck, part# HC3Z19G490Z comes up as the high mount camera, not sure if it would be the same for yours.
I went by my local dealer last Thursday to see when the remaining recalls could be done. This was for the rear camera and the transmission module reflash. The service lady said they would have the parts for the camera that afternoon. I brought it in Friday morning and both recalls were completed. The reason I went in was because my Ford Pass says the parts for the camera are now available. The info on the reflash on my Ford Pass app says remedy not yet available but my workorder invoice shows "reprogrammed PCM and TCM to the latest level using FDRS per bulletin 22E04".
I took my truck to the dealership because all my camera's had the white ring of death around them. I had all the camera's replaced at no charge. They replaced my rear camera and left the recall open if the camera fails again.
Here is a thread on the cameras. I posted my invoice with the cameras and part numbers that you would need to get your cameras replaced.
Thanks everyone for the info. My truck is currently in the shop for the transmission recall on the 10-speed. It's been in for 2 weeks now waiting for parts on that with the transmission out of the truck. My problem is just a dead bed view cam, the tailgate cam is still good. When I took it in last fall the tech said that this is the same problem as the foggy cam. I guess the cams need to be replaced in any case.
My Ford Pass app now also says that parts are available. I just put in a case to my service advisor to see if they can get that done while the truck is in there.
I misread your first post. I thought you meant the back up camera. Anyway, hope you can get it corrected. Mine was in the shop for 4 days for the transmission recall as they had the parts on hand. So far I can't tell any difference in how it performs.
My truck is still in the shop at the local dealership. It's been 3-weeks now. They are still waiting for parts for the transmission recall. FedEx lost them and they had to re-order. This is actually the 2nd transmission recall on my truck. It is interesting that the rear bed (5th wheel hitch) camera quit working right after the recall for the tailgate lock inspection. That was last August and I still don't have the repair. I called my service advisor again (he was on vacation for a week) and he is checking on camera parts. There might be some confusion about the camera recall as that was for the 360 camera system which may not include the read bed camera.
