Towing Advice?

I’m looking at a prospect 7.3 IDI F250. It’s about 2 hours each way and I have a 96 150 to tow with. The odds are kind of against me, I have an exhaust leak in my truck already. It’s the inline 6 with a 3.08 in the back (2wd) with 29 inch Goodyear tires. On top of all this it’s a bumper hitch. Is there any way in hell that I could possibly tow this IDI home? I know it sounds like mission impossible but I wanted some input from everyone. Also meant to add. I just rebuilt the trans in my 96 and I installed the HD-2 Tiger kit by Transgo for the E4OD (if that helps in any way).

simple answer:
no. the diesel F250 is way too heavy to tow with a 150.
have someone drive you there, and drive it home.

Personally, i would be calling a friend with a more capable truck. Or perhaps renting a truck from uhaul to do it.
If it was 10 or 15 miles and you could take back roads and go 30 miles per hour... maybe. But, 2 hours, no way. Because if you dont have a hitch, ill be betting you don't have trailer brakes. And at some point in a 2 hour drive, you will probably have some amount of higjway to contend with and some sort of hill.
Forget the underpowered and undergeared totally. You dont have a way to safely stop the whole shebang.
Sorry man i can't see a way to safely do this trip. Like i said at first, if it was a few miles maybe but not this distance.

Thanks for the input everyone. It sounded like mission impossible to me too. I’m trying to get a buddy to help me get it.

your truck isn’t set up correctly and the 7.3 is just too heavy to tow with your truck. The bumper hitch is a definite no go
