i have owned the truck for a year and a half and have never received a software up date to my knowledge...no fordpass messages sent except for a couple of recalls.
rev on screen says 21136 rev 134
also fordpass used to notify me when doors were opened...that stopped about 2 months ago.
The app has been updated so many times to turn things on and off who knows what they did to it. I used to be able to send google maps to it via my phone. Can't do that anymore.
I just leave it connected to the house wifi and let it update while it's in the garage. I don't even check the app all the often. I'm pretty sure it's done at least two updates since I've had it in the last year and a half.
Updates are SLOW doing it this way though. It trickles on the Wifi because at the edge of the range. You can do a manual update if you want. I believe the instructions are on Fordpass website.
I had to (well maybe didn't have to) buy the Mongoose Plus cable (and FDRS subscription) and do the updates myself so that I could get things like fullscreen car play, etc. Cost me a bit of money, but I didn't have to go through dealer network headaches and did it all at home in my garage. Otherwise, not much going on in the way of updates for these vehicles.
I've also seen where you have to have the emergency break applied for the updates to start. Not sure if that is fully true or not (Seems weird), but that could be the cause.

How difficult was the update process? Did you update other modules? Is the Mongoose good for anything without the FDRS license? Thanks!

Relative I suppose. If something like Forscan is easy for you, probably not that difficult. If not, I wouldn’t recommend it. I honestly didn’t pay attention to what other features the Mongoose cable had, I assume similar to OBD2 reader though.
The online community instructions/videos you can find related to the update make it pretty simple, but not something I think the general population should attempt.

Too bad we can use the same adapter we use for Forscan. I'll look up some videos on the process. Thanks for the info.
