Hey gang-
I had a 50,000 mile oil change yesterday, and the engine splash shield was worn out. It's made of a cheap fiber material, without grommets for the bolt holes, so it didn't take too many oil changes for it to disintegrate around those bolt holes. In previous vehicles I've noticed that those splash shields have a noticeable impact on fuel efficiency, so I was ready to buy a new one ($143) until they hooked me up with a free replacement that was hanging around the shop.
I checked online for sturdier aftermarket replacements but I came up dry. I found some FAPO magnesium alloy engine shields for only a little bit more than the ford part, but eBay doesn't appear to have any for my truck (below) and I can't find the FAPO website.
Has anyone found a good replacement engine splash guard?
maybe some one with a Tremor or Rapture will speak up, Those may be steel. See what your parts guy can show you. There is a trans cover that some of use have used that was original to one of those and works perfect to replace fiber under trans. Mabe something similar for your needs.
Will this metal pan/skid plate fit a 5.0 F150? It looks like it might be different at the front area that bolts to the cross member and may not work with the 5.0?
