I have no idea what they know and what they don't know. I know that when I was creating stock tunes I knew what PSI I was calling for. I had pressure sensors installed in the trans and with the installed instrumentation, I knew what pressures were in each clutch.
There is a safe limit and the pump can't exceed that. It doesn't have the capacity.
This is exactly what I needed to know......
Just FYI...Andrew has already reached out to me.....fingers crossed
Looks like it will be Friday before I hear back from Andrew again.
Matt at GH reached out....said to put the Hydra in stock (00) setting and see if it shifts any different....I guess it will idle like crap but should drive fine and not hurt anything.
Andrew just sent over a few to try out.....I'll test out the stock setting just to rule out the transmission.
Would a transgo kit make it shift soft? I got an email back from the transmission shop.
"We have had pretty good success using these aftermarket upgrades on this unit. Like with anything though with tuners gone wild - things will break. It is a Transgo shift kit, I believe the feed seals, reverse plunger, and line pressure sleeve are all Sonnax. The HD center support is a must on these units along with the HD int sprag. The converter has a billet lid and they machine the stator for better take off for towing. "
Called Transgo and they mentioned there was no mechanical reason why shifts couldn't be tuned for firmness.
Then I loaded up a couple of the AA tunes from Andrew......and HOLY CRAP!! @jstihl and @ESwift you guys were both right about this decision.....freakin nailed it!!
Are your tunes pretty smoky if you get on it? These initially blew a big black plume but cleared up almost immediately. Just wondering if that initial fuel dump could be tapered a bit up front....but wow! I am a believer.
Thanks for that recommendation! My wife just told me I am still wearing the grin.
