E40D Clunks When Hot

E40D Clunks When Hot
F250 1996. E40D. 227k miles.
I've changed the tranny fluid and filter, greased the driveshaft.
I get a clunk when the thing is hot (like after 30 minutes of highway driving), especially around 25mph (accelerating and decel).
This seems to be a common problem. What I don't find is a common solution.
Does anyone here have the experience to tell me what the fix is? Or should I just give up because the E40D sucks?
