Educate me on 1966 F-Trucks

Hi all,

I find it surprisingly difficult to find detailed information about '66 F-Trucks, or Gen 4 in general. I found a lot of information about the engine options and of course 2WD vs 4WD. Can someone explain what are the differences between the F-100 and the F-250? I found information that the frame dimensions are identical, but the F-250 has a thicker frame. Which would make sense for a 3/4 ton truck. What are the bed options between F-100 and F-250? Does anybody has the production numbers for 1966?

Thanks,
Chris

In my opinion, the best thing you can do is, coffee and factory manuals in hand, sit back in the recliner and type the topic at hand into the ‘ Search This Forum ‘ box/ drop-down on the upper right. Allow a relaxing hour or two for the task.I have probably 40 bookmarked threads on topics I might want to refer to in the future. Plus, another 30 or so threads where NumberDummy has posted parts numbers, application, exploded parts drawings, as well as dealers maybe carrying the parts and their contact info. Plenty more screenshots of posts by the Dummy with invaluable info, as well. No one does what he has done, across many different forums, over a span of nearly twenty years. Doing this gets me through most things easily. Good luck.

You asked way to many questions to be answered in a post here. If you have specific questions you need to ask them or search the forum. If you are just after general knowledge start reading; here, books, anything you can find. Be aware though that mixed in with all of the good information is incorrect information written by well intentioned individuals that don't actually know as much as they think they do.
Search for 1965-66 F100-F250 Restoration Guide, should be on the web somewhere.
Check out Fordification, some interesting information there. FORDification.info - The '61-'66 Ford Pickup Resource
