1976 F100/150 4WD to F250 2WD

anyone know if it’s possible to take the running gear of the 4WD F100/150 to install under a 2WD 1977 F250 frame?

I’m buying a 1976 F100 4WD that has had a frame off restoration done. the guy finished POR15 on the frame, new bushings, new breaks, new suspension, new motor mounts, and then decided he was done. I have a 2WD F250 that i would like to make a “highboy”. my choices are either use the F100 frame and piece that truck back together, or frankenstein the F250 frame to be a “highboy”

thoughts? better off just finishing the F100?

also, would the F250 body on the F100 frame classify it as a F250 “highboy” or still a 4x4 F100 with a F250 body?

I hope you got or are going to get the paper title to that frame? You need to get a paper title with that frame and one that the frame vin #'s match the paper title vin#. Especially if your local DMV folks are on the ball and check that stuff. The paper title goes with the frame, NOT the body. I would just take your 2wd F250 body on put on that 1/2 ton running gear. Do not get all wrapped around the "highboy" term.

^ Agreed. At the end of the day you would have an F100 4x4, but that’s certainly nothing to be upset about.

paper title for the ‘76 F100 and only a bill of sale for the F250. the guys is selling absolutely everything related to the truck for $3,500 with a title, so i figured i would snag. it’s a complete truck, cab needs floorboards and a passenger cab corner. f250 cab is clean though, so that’s a possibility as long as i cut the trans tunnel for a transfer case shift lever
