Big thanks to Abe who gave me some great advice on painting my bed wood! I went to my local Sherwin-Williams dealer and they matched the truck color perfect with some oil based enamel painted. I sanded all the polyurethane off the current boards, primed and painted the strips. I then had to buy new metal strips and bolts and do the same. I spent Saturday reassembling the bed. I love the forum and the great advice everyone is willing to share. I have attached a few pictures as an update.
I used SW for my paint too. I wanted to keep the patina on the interior and paint the exterior to match. I brought the ashtray and they matched it perfectly.
But we’ve lost among us, yet another perfectly good varnished wooden truck bed that’s sadly fallen victim to Abe’s School of Meadow Green Paint. Somebody’s got to stop this guy! lol 😂

Henry Ford would like this historic movement! But actually any original body color is allowed into this movement. And your truck would look nice with a Meadow Green wood bed.
If you are really serious, start taking the green Kool-Aid intravenously…
they were talking about what color the beds on prewar trucks were painted underneath over on Ford Barn! Also back at the factory they probably painted the bed after it was assembled so if you removed the strips there’d be no paint.

I'm sure they were painted after assembly. Good point about no paint under the strips.
