2014 no start multiple codes

New to this forum, I have posted on the 6.0 diesel forum in the past. That at least I know how to work on.

As title reads the Explorer took a dump this weekend. Luckily just around the corner from home. P0430 and P2195 read after car would not stay running.

Basically driving to the hardware store CEL came on. While parking it was running pretty rough. After I found the bolts I needed, I hop in the car and it will not stay running. Had it towed to the dealer. They couldn't get to it for 3 weeks so had it towed again to another mechanic.

Mechanic checked fuel pressure good at 65psi, ran other testing and cleaned MAF. After that it was running at least but rough. They replaced the MAF and it's good now. Cleared codes and they drove it, tested good. So I got my car back in a day not 3 weeks. Seems to be running better than it ever has, feels great.

Can't remember the last time I've had to have a broken down car towed. I really did not know where to even start. Looking for some resources for troubleshooting or any references or repair guides. I'm amazed how many Explorer I see on the road, yet info seems scarce.

Seems like your poblem(s) is fixed. Also lesson learned, keep an independent shop on your side. Dealerships are backlogged (mine was 4 months) due to warranty and recalls

Not sure it is fixed just yet. CEL came back on 300 miles from home on vacation last week. Same CAT code as before, but ran fine. Cleared codes, running Cataclean this week. Code hasn't come back in 400+ miles.

O2 sensor readings and Temps look promising - monitoring those on torque. We'll see how everything turns out. Another twist - had a pending fault p0456 come up yesterday.

I'm thinking if I can't find some resources on troubleshooting this thing it's time to move on. Those cats are very expensive. Plus this is my daily driver/work vehicle and I can't keep worrying about the next problem.

The faulty MAF had likely caused too much fuel to be dumped into the exhaust causing the cats to be overloaded. Give the Cataclean a chance before condemning the converter or the vehicle. Plenty of resources for troubleshooting are available for the Explorer, this site's Explorer section isn't particularly active with discussions, though.

The P0456 indicates a very small evap leak. Funnel hump the fuel inlet with the refueling funnel to clean the cap's sealing surface and see if that resolves the issue.

Appreciate the suggestions on the funnel and thoughts on the MAF being the cause. Still running Cataclean.

Tried the funnel trick, didn't seem to make a difference. Found some info about a faulty purge valve causing the p0456, replaced it and the code went away after a few drive cycles. Very easy to access on the top of the engine just under the foam cover.

I stumbled upon info pointing to oil residue from the vent line coming from the valve cover to the intake. Apparently there is an updated part to reduce the amount of oil that gets drawn into the intake. Not sure what year the update came out or if my car has it. I'm fairly certain that oil is what causing problems and plan to clean the MAF, or at least check it during oil changes.

There are no codes or pending codes after changing out the purge valve
