Hey fuzzy face, what your saying is true about the electric fuel pumps. Gets a little tough on a 1955 where the stock fuel tank is located. I've tried to stay away from the electric fuel pumps. Personnel preference. My engine driven pump is okay right now but I ordered a new unit like the pump that's on my Y Block 312. It has a filter can on the pump. I think my tank is original and Eventually I will replace it or get it vated and Cleaned. I've done the reverse filter trick, but used five pound air, lots of crap came out, some metallic. I know that's not good! When I get this exhaust fixed and do a few local runs. I will pull that inline filter and see that I got. Great reading learning a lot!AJ.
Yea I know some of the older trucks with the tank behind the seat and it pulls fuel out the top at the sender.
In that case where the line goes thru the floor is where I would mount it on the frame.
It is as close to the tank as it can be and below the fuel level.
I also post this so others that dont know will also learn.

Hey Fuzz ya the 1956 F100 was and is a different design, electric fuel pump compstable when I bought my 1956 F-100 the fuel tank was full of rust. I bought new running board brackets and got read of that in cab fuel.tank. went to the 54 tank. I worked fine had to mod it and I filled it from the bed. I drove it to work. Parked it their for a week or too. It had rained hard for days. The filler was covered with water. But no water in the tank. AJ
I installed a new fuel filter and did an oil change while I had it on my lift. It has been starting and running around my neighborhood. I have not taken it for a longer drive yet. Outside temp has been in the mid 90's. Too hot to walk home if it still has a problem. Lol

I drove to Elmwood today, a little bit cooler than the last outing, and made there and back just fine. Full of real gas now and ready to cruise around the area.
