deisel in a gas engine
"Say it not true"!! I pick up this truck from the ship yard they say we have to put deisel in it. why I ask it is a gas engine then they tell me it is a mistake I take my truck and 50 miles later my carb is overflowing and my engine is full of gas. Did the deisel they supposedly didn't put in my truck do this? I took off the manifold no obvious cracks and it has an electric pump.

Thanks for your reply. I want to make sure I got this straight though. Normally, the gas would come from the fuel pump into the carb. ( When the float bowl is full it should stop letting gas in.)
Then the gas goes from the carb to the intake, (this is where the gas normally gets burned). But because of the sticking float, it keeps pumping fuel into the carb, which goes to theintake and fills up there(ahh, the dangers of an electric fuel pump. But, now how did the gas get to the crankcase? There are no obvious signs of cracks in the intake. I sure appreciate any help. Jesse

Gasoline is designed to enter the combustion chamber in controlled amounts. When excess raw fuel is dumped into the carb it eventually makes its way to the cylinders because it naturally has to flow somewhere. Some gas will get spewed out into the exhaust when you crank the engine over. The rest seeps past the rings into the oil.
Make sure you correct the flooding condition first, then I would recommend that you crank your engine over several times with the coil wire removed to discharge any excess fuel from the engine. Change your oil and filter. Make sure you wait awhile before you try to start the engine or else you might have a massive explosion in the exhaust which still might contain a great deal raw fuel. Failure to follow applicable precautions and safety procedures may result in serious personal injury or even worse....damage to your vehicle.
