I have a 1996 f150xl 4.9 6cyl 4x4 reg cab. These are the pumps i ordered. Mechanic just text and said that the front pump is the wrong pump it doesn't fit. I told him to just take the pump off that sending unit and put it on the original one , hopefully that works or im out $250. Is that not the right pump assembly? Vin# 1FTEF14Y3TLB96805.
the 2 Delphi
I changed them because the front was weak so I put a ultra pro pump in. then the front tank started overfilling, bad check valve I guess. So I just figured I would get the best and then not have to worry about it again. Now it's still not going to be right after spending almost 600dlrs on pumps. Is there anything on the old pump assembly that can go bad that would affect the pump down the road? I don't care if the arm that reads the fuel level quits. I can just go by km.
I just went through the same exact thing. 1995 F350, 4x4, E4OD, 5.8L, 3.55 gears. I purchased the same Delphi pump HP10277 and also had fitment issues. The pump was about 1" longer than the original. I know I have a 19G midship tank, so it looks to be a bad part # imo. The rear pump was a good fit for the 18G tank.

ya it's anoing when you spend that much money for something and it doesn't work properly.

If the issue with the front tank overfilling was due to a bad check valve, replacing the pump may not resolve this issue.
