I busted the cover that goes over the evaporator and fixed it, but what I didn't see until I tried to stuff it back in was I also managed to damage the box itself.
Cracked out a piece right in the sweet spot where one of the screws go in the back. The grove that the cover goes in is out of whack now too.
I'm going to attempt a repair but just in case my repair fails, does anyone happen to know the part number or proper name for this?
Searching for it isn't giving good results.
Also, would any of the newer parts work say 05-07?
Yeah..... I looked high and low on that same site and could not find that. Much thanks.
At that price, I'll be going ahead with composite scraps & epoxy on mine. But it does say up to 07 so that does widen the used parts availability a good bit.
I broke mine as well and will probably pull one from the junkyard eventually for additional practice in the meantime some aluminum a/c tape has been holding strong keeping the 2 parts leak free.
was it the upper right screw ?
I guess its a montana thing, but I haven't found any places that let me go get the parts myself.
eh.. and used aint much cheaper than new.
It was the bottom right screw boss. That plastic must have some stress in it because it didn't seem like much of a crack to allow it to distort so bad the cover wouldn't fit.
I have it curing now with the cover forced in place to hold the parts in position. Hopefully, I didn't permaglue the cover on... but with my luck and then the evaporator will decide to leak.
